Welcome to the Counselor's Corner at Bedford Primary School. Here you will find information about programs at our school that encourage social/emotional, academic, and career development. Please take a look around to find out more about the role of the school counselor and the programs that I sponser at our school.
Bedford County Public Schools considers Guidance and Counseling services essential components of our school programs, available to all students in Kindergarten through Grade 12. These programs support and enhance the schools’ instructional goals by providing children and youth developmentally appropriate activities, guidance, and counseling in areas of academics, career preparation, and personal/social concerns. The offerings at Bedford Primary include the state and county mandated Character Counts Program.
A major component of Bedford Primary’s program is classroom guidance. In classroom guidance I visit each class throughout the year to teach on the following topics:
· Character Counts (Responsibility, Respect, Caring, Fairness, Trustworthiness, Citizenship)
· Life Skills
· Decision Making
· Career Opportunities
· Safety
In addition, personal/social counseling is available through individual and small group sessions. These sessions are initiated by the student, parent, or teacher. Parental permission will be obtained prior to scheduling regular personal/social counseling sessions.
